in March this year, the Company has received many and repeated emails from both customers and the public asking when the special release will be back. In the 5 month interim, the folks at Whistler Brewing entered the special release Black Tusk Ale in both the 2010 World Beer Cup and the 2010 World Beer awards, where it won medals in both world championships. Check out all the details after the jump…

– The World Beer Awards, 2010: Best of The Americas Brown Ale Category
– The World Beer Cup, 2010: Bronze Medal English Mild Ale Category

“We are extremely excited to have our brewmaster’s art recognized on a global scale” said Bruce Dean, President of The Whistler Brewing Company. “For 2010, our Black tusk Ale is one of only two Canadian beer entries to be recognized in both the World Beer Cup and the World Beer Awards, proving that you don’t need to travel too far from home to experience some of the best beers the world has to offer!”

While offered at select bars and restaurants in Vancouver throughout the year such as Relish, Rogue, Cin Cin, Blue Water, Smiley’s Public House and Monk McQueens, Black Tusk Ale returns to BC and Alberta liquor stores during October 2010.

About The Whistler Black Tusk Ale

From the original 1989 recipe, Whistler Brewing Co’s Black Tusk Ale is an English-style Dark Mild Ale, brewed with domestic and imported chocolate & specialty malts. Expect a mild bitterness, with notes of chocolate and a roasted coffee finish. The Black tusk Ale is being served on draft at the following fine Vancouver establishments: Relish, Rogue, Cin Cin, Blue Water, Smiley’s Public House and Monk McQueens.

About The World Beer Awards

Following four rounds of judging, the ‘World’s Best Beers’ Judges blind-taste beers from over five hundred entries in twenty-seven countries, in the annual World Beer Awards. These Awards are truly global as the ‘World’s Best’ winners in 2010 demonstrates; originating from the USA, Canada, Czech Republic, Japan and Germany. Organised by www.tastingbeers.com the competition selects, awards and promotes to consumers the best beers available internationally.

About The World Beer Cup

Brewers from six continents earned awards from an elite international panel of judges in the 2010 Brewers Association World Beer Cup—the world’s largest-ever commercial beer competition. The eighth bi-annual competition announced awards to brewers from 19 countries ranging from Australia and Italy to Iceland and Japan. This year, 642 breweries from 44 countries and 47 U.S. states vied for awards with 3,330 beers entered in 90 beer style categories. The entries in each category were eligible for gold, silver and bronze awards. Judges presented a total of 268 awards. “Brewers from around the globe participate in the World Beer Cup to win recognition for their creativity and brewing ability,” said Charlie Papazian, president of the Brewers Association, the U.S.-based trade association that has put on the competition every two years since 1996. “For a brewer, a World Beer Cup gold award allows them to say that their winning beer represents the best of that beer style in the world.”
