News from Scout supporter Bistrot Bistro

To celebrate the origins of Tammi and Rob Van Westen, who are from the Netherlands, and match the great wines they will be pouring and presenting on Thursday, November 19th, we have designed a menu from the North of France (pour les ch’tis quoi!).

We usually design our menus in English. This time we decided to keep it authentic (break out the Google translation kit), and also some of it does not translate.

Valerie will be happy to interpret and answer your questions; she was born and raised in the North of France near Vimy Ridge!

Please note that you need to call directly the restaurant to make a reservation Open Table will not display any availability (604-732-0004).

The evening will start at 6.30pm with…

Hors d’oeuvres
Pinot Blanc Vivacious 08

Flamiche au Maroilles or Salade de betteraves au fromage de chevre
Viognier 08 (not yet released) what name will they give it.

Waterzoi de volailles de Licques or Coquilles Saint Jacques aux endives
Voluptuous 06 (merlot/cab franc Blend)

Q&A with Tammi and Rob, and a surprise treat straight from the barrel!

Gaufres a la compote de pomme et raisin et crème fouettee Tea or coffee

$65 per person food and wine.

In March 2007, Valerie and Laurent Devin took a chance with a new bistro concept on Kitsilano’s trendy 4th Avenue restaurant strip. Drawing inspiration from their childhood memories in provincial France, they created a menu of traditional French country fare, comprised of the kind of dishes invented to share with friends and family over long, cozy conversation. True to tradition, the wine program must be essential, focused on food compatibility, diversity, and above all else, value.

Bistrot Bistro beems with energy every night. This is not a restaurant if you’re looking for a quiet corner table to discuss business; this is a spirited and bustling meeting place true to the spirit of its unreserved neighborhood. Simple and fun are the watchwords here.

Valerie and Laurent understand that with so much attention comes a certain responsibility, and so they introduced Karma Tuesdays. BB starts each week by donating 5% of the day’s proceeds to a different charity or non-profit group. In this way they are able to give back to the community and to say thank you for its support.

Non pretentious accessible to all and fun are the key word for us. We like to say to the team be yourself take your job seriously but not yourself.
