TEA & TWO SLICES: On Platitudes, Punk Politics, And Not Being A Big Enough Twit

by Sean OrrMan accused of threatening to copy Batman shootings appears in North Van court. “Social media is a powerful tool and can be used for good or bad”. Do you guys just have like a spec-sheet of vague, ambiguous, platitudes at your beck and call? You do realize that one could just take out the word ‘social’ from that sentence and it completely cancels out your own argument. Time for an anti-social network?

I’m super out of touch: Shouldn’t the president be older, and other of life’s little mysteries. Why anyone would pay this guy to write such insecure, baby-boomer drivel is beyond me. Oh wait, that’s your entire demographic. Nevermind.

I suppose it masks the blatantly Orwellian boosterism of Productive Conversations: Canadian workers lacking resources and engagement needed to get the job done. “Let us be thankful we have an occupation to fill. Work hard; increase production, prevent accidents, and be happy”. Yeah, that’s right, I just referenced Frodus who references THX 1138.

Vancity dumps Enbridge shares. I guess that’s good, but what about all the other Enbridges?

Hey look! A politician who actually admits he’s a shithead! DOA punk rocker seeking NDP nomination in Coquitlam. “The riding is heavily skewed to Asian residents, and so I don’t know how well he’ll resonate in a community like that”. I wonder how their song Tyrants Turn In Hell would roll in Cantonese?

When all else fails, bring up the old Red Threat: Liberals accuse B.C. NDP MLA of being infatuated with communist Cuba. That’s because it is amazing. No, but seriously, you could probably go to Cuba and reaffirm all your elitist wet dreams because “oh, they are all so poor” and “omg the air condition doesn’t work and the food was super bland” while completely ignoring that whole naval blockade thing.

While completely ignoring the cost of our Lotus Land escapades: Vancouver has worst housing affordability in country. It’s like a broken record but the record is Phil Collins’ No Strings Attached stuck on slower speed with the treble cranked and all the lights in your house flashing on and off randomly with a baby on the ceiling.

Bonus: Martyn Brown takes Premier Christy Clark to task. Not for being a populist twit, but for not being enough of one.
