TEA & TWO SLICES: On Major WIndstorms, Meathead Oilriggers, And Peak Canada

by Sean Orr | Our very own How’s Your NewsPeople of Vancouver be prepared. We might be a day or two late on publishing his warning, but Franky (above), is still my new hero. Stay tuned to his channel here.

Our local paper carefully dissects and untangles the incredibly complex issue of Israeli-Gaza relations…yeah right: Residents back Israeli action.

Peak Oil? More like Peak Canada. I’ll just put this right here:

Ordinary Canadians embraced the hubris, spending far beyond their means, believing that our oil-boosted economy was permanent and invincible. In November of 2012, the peak of the Great Hubris, Canadians reported record levels of personal non-mortgage debt, piling on expensive cars and credit card bills – everyone believed theirs was a rich petro-state and it would last forever.

Meanwhile, meathead oil rigger hates the rest of us. Oops, I better be careful. I don’t want anyone to sue me for “defecation of character”.

Yes, We Con: A clear and brazen contravention of the government’s own code of conduct. Oh, I love when the angry taxpayer narrative is used against so-called conservatives. Take-away quote: “Oh, I get it! A call from your kid here, a note from your spouse there, and an occasional publicly funded mind-meld on the latest Liberal party sliming of your enemies”.

Can we? Does Matt Toner’s NDP win signal Vancouver’s digital media sector wants to be heard in Victoria? Also, is matte toner the really best option for your photocopier? “It makes for an exciting political race and interesting times for Vancouver’s digital media sector”. What is it with tech writers who have this blue-tinted, utopian view of everything? It’s like, if you’re not jacked in, you’re not alive (Ladies and Gentlemen, my first Buffy reference!).

I feel so overwhelmed with pride: Photos: B.C. Angels shut down Saskatoon Sirens to win first Lingerie Bowl Canada.

Check out this next segue: Blueprint for an Inquiry: “The inquiry set up to address the concerns of marginalized women shut those same women out”. OK, now back to pictures of lingerie football…

Twitter users get creative with civic slogans. My fave? “Come to Vancouver – We’ll greet you with folded arms”. My contribution? “Vancouver: When Are We Going to be Finished”?
