by Sean Orr | God, they can’t even write a weather headline: B.C. temperature records fall as summer weather continues. Summer weather continues because it is, in fact, still summer.
I’ll just put this right here: Evan Solomon pens an open letter to Christy Clark.
Charlie Smith adds: “The reality is that Clark appears to be more interested in talking to residents of Williams Lake or business people in Hong Kong than to the people who elected her to the legislature.”
Not that there’s anything wrong with that…
Meanwhile: Who’s up to old tricks? It’s not Adrian Dix. Yeah, because we’ve never seen an NDPer pander to the centre-right before (Gary Mason used to be a sports writer).
So much for Clark’s Family First agenda: Jobs and affordable housing draw young people, families away from BC. And those of whom that stay and contribute to the creative class are branded with the epithet of ‘hipster’, even from their own government.
And yet: Downtown Vancouver’s Nordstrom makeover to include hip gathering spaces. I’m getting mixed messages!
Cutting buses to save money, then hiring security guards to control crowds = priceless: Security guards assigned to control frustrated Metro Vancouver bus riders. In Victoria, where the culture is sick, they threw us off the bus last week for mentioning that we were opening for the band Fucked Up. “But…but they won a Polaris Prize!”
And some things actually are fucked up: Should This Woman Be Jailed By The U.S. For Refusing To Kill? No. Nope. I’m going to vote nay on that one. Ne jail pas.
A Call to Arms: Women sexually assualted in series of B&E’s. “I’m tired. And I don’t want to ‘take back the night’, I want to take back the fucking world because none of us should have to live in fear, for any reason”. “Well, a satirical piece in the Times is one thing, but bricks and baseball bats really gets right to the point”. – Woody Allen as Isaac Davis in Manhattan.
Speaking of bricks and baseball bats, anybody up for a road trip to Head Smashed-In Buffalo Jump? Alberta aboriginal rock etchings defaced with drill, power washer, acid. Sounds sinister but it was probably just due to cuts in the Ministry of Heritage. May I suggest they replace the image with something like this?
The criminalisation of dissent: Mask ban bill nears final stage in House of Commons. Oh well, there’s always the Senate, right? Bwahahaha.
Bonus: I’d be really choked if you guys missed this show: BeatRoute & WinnieCooper.net Olio Showcase.
