by Nicole Dennis Durnin | I missed a week here at Scout since there was not much to report on the store front. We’ve been patiently waiting to receive the required permits from the City and we needed to wait for a City Inspector to come by the space to give the go ahead for demolition. I am happy to report it has all been taken care of!
The Inspector was by last Wednesday and our contractors, Kingdom Builders, started the demo the very next day. Now things are really moving. The timeline for the entire project from demolition to opening is approximately one month, and fingers are crossed that thing go smoothly. The plan for this week is to check in on the demo progress with Michael Green of McFarlane Green Biggar (MGB) to see if any adjustments need to be made to the design now that the interior walls are all out. I took a sneak peek of the demoed space last week with my husband and we are excited to see that the original mosaic flooring extends into the back half of the space, we just don’t know how far yet.
I am sure you have always wanted to know what was behind the pink wall at 225 Carrall Street, as I did every time I walked by the space before leasing it. For many years it’s been a live/work space and behind that wall was a small kitchen and full-sized bathroom with a bathtub. Leaving the space as it was was obviously not conducive to a retail store; we needed to maximize the selling space and that meant removing the pink wall and everything behind it. In addition to the uncovered mosaic flooring, there is now an amazing window and beautiful brick walls which will be exposed. I can’t wait for you to see it when it’s done.
This is where the real fun begins and I can see the space evolving into what Lynn Steven will be. We are still working on developing the logo and branding for Lynn Steven but I think we are headed in the right direction. I should have the final version very soon.
