Sunshine Coast | Painted Boat Resort Spa & Marina is excited to partner with the Meyer Family Vineyards to present a three course dinner with wine pairings for the fifth annual Sunshine Coast Mushroom Festival on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at 6:30 p.m.

“The popularity of this event among locals and visitors is growing larger every year,” enthuses Ryan Schmidt, Manager of Painted Boat Resort Spa & Marina. “It is a highly anticipated event with tickets almost being sold out.”

Focusing on locally hunted mushrooms, the culinary team at Painted Boat will prepare three sumptuous dishes that highlight Painted Boat’s creative coastal cuisine. Each of the dishes will be paired with a wine from Meyer Family Vineyards located in the Okanagan.

Robert Rogers, author of The Fungal Pharmacy, Medicinal Mushrooms of Western Canada, will be the evening’s feature entertainment. Rogers will cover topics including: from mycophagy to immune modulation, a gastronomic journey to health and wellness, and how mushroom meals prevent and treat illness.

Currently in its fifth year, the Mushroom Festival is one of the most delicious festivals on the Sunshine Coast. The festival highlights the abundance of local edible mushrooms on the coast as well as the versatility of these tasty treats. Details after the jump…

DIRECTIONS

Take the Horseshoe Bay Ferry to Langdale, which will take 40 minutes. To Pender Harbour from Langdale, it’s a 50 minute drive. Take Highway 101 North and follow the signs to Sechelt. Look for the sign to the Madeira Park turn-off 20 minutes past Sechelt. The sign is on the right. Turn left at the painted fish boat, then follow the signs to Painted Boat Resort Spa & Marina.
