The GOODS from Mission Hill Family Estate
West Kelowna, BC | On Saturday, August 3, Mission Hill Family Estate will raise a glass to Food Day Canada by hosting a Southern-style BBQ featuring a bounty of home-grown products, with guest chef (and Mission Hill alumnus) Michael Allemeier from Calgary, and Food Day Canada founder and culinary activist Anita Stewart.
Food Day Canada is an annual event celebrating Canadian producers, chefs and home cooks, from coast to coast. In 2013, Food Day Canada marks its tenth anniversary.
Executive Winery Chef Matthew Batey welcomes Mission Hill alumnus Chef Michael Allemeier back to the winery for the first time in four years for a culinary collaboration in celebration of Food Day Canada. Following Mission Hill’s culinary philosophy of farm-to-table cuisine, a stunning array of local products will be featured on the menu, including a custom Tamworth Pig from Takoff Farms in Kelowna.
The main course will feature Chef Allemeier’s dish from the Jack Daniels BBQ competition, a smoked Pemberton Meadows Beef Tenderloin. Each course will be paired with Mission Hill Family Estate’s award-winning wines, including the Reserve Sauvignon Blanc, Reserve Riesling, Martin’s Lane Pinot Noir, Martin’s Lane Viognier, Select Lot Collection Syrah and the Reserve Riesling Icewine.
The special evening will begin with a canapé reception, followed by a four-course elegant al fresco BBQ dining experience overlooking lush vineyards and scenic Okanagan Lake. The event is limited to 50 guests. Details after the jump…
