Located across the street from the Orpheum Theatre, and in the heart of Vancouver’s entertainment district, Cibo Trattoria has become a destination for pre-theatre and pre-event dining. Starting January 12, and throughout the month of January, Cibo Trattoria will be showcasing its special Pre-Theatre menu by giving guests the option to try it all evening long.

Until the end of January, diners at Cibo can choose from Cibo’s regular menu, or take advantage of the special $38 Pre-Theatre prix fixe, which is normally offered every day from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

The Pre-Theatre menu not only offers diners three courses, but also gives them the opportunity to select either a starter, main course and dessert; or a starter, main course and side dish.

Because Cibo only features same-day fresh and local ingredients, the menu changes frequently, however an example of Cibo’s Pre-Theatre menu (dated January 12) includes:

ANTIPASTI
Onion soup “Emilia-Romagna style”
Salad of winter leaves, pear, parmigiano, 12-year-old balsamico
Fresh handmade spaghetti, Galiano Island mussels, San Marzano tomatoes, parsley, garlic pangratta

SECONDI
Roast local rock cod, leeks, capers, sage and meyer lemon
Braised Pemberton Meadows beef, soft polenta, spinach, horseradish gremolata
Black-olive polenta, roast cauliflower, hedgehog mushrooms, roast garlic and parsley

choice of contorni or dolci

CONTORNI
Crispy fingerling potatoes, rosemary and garlic
Spinach pine nuts, lemon and extra virgin olive oil
Cannellini beans, marjoram and garlic

DOLCI
Baked quince, creme de mascarpone
Blood orange, pink grapefruit and Meyer lemon granita
Vanilla panna cotta with organic grapefruit and Campari

Cibo Trattoria is located in the Moda Hotel at 900 Seymour Street, and is open for dinner Monday to Saturday from 5:00 p.m., and closed Sundays. Cibo is a proud dining partner of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and the Vancouver Playhouse and offers dining perks to ticket holders – please contact the restaurant for details.

  1. No, but in their own boutique hotel kind of way, yes…and it may just get me going back there.

  2. Cibo is not officially part of Dine Out, but wanted to take this opportunity to showcase their $38 pre-theatre special (which has been available for months, the match in pricing was coincidental). When Dine Out is over, the menu will continue to be offered every day from 5 – 6:30 pm.
