Vancouver, BC | Proprietors David and Manjy Sidoo and partner Chef Daniel Boulud are extraordinarily pleased to announce that Lumière restaurant in Vancouver received the coveted Five Diamond Award Designation from AAA/CAA for 2011 – a designation awarded to just one British Columbia restaurant, and reserved for less than one-quarter of one percent of the over 26,000 AAA approved restaurants in North America and the Caribbean. Only six Canadian restaurants were awarded Five Diamonds. Chef Boulud’s world-renowned Restaurant DANIEL in New York, received the Five Diamond designation as well again this year.
“Manjy, Daniel and I are extraordinarily proud and humbled that our passion for and commitment to providing Vancouver with the quintessential fine French dining experience has been recognized by our peers. In equal measure, we congratulate our talented Executive Chef Dale MacKay and Chef/Partner Daniel Boulud and their team, and thank our loyal, impassioned clientele without whose shared commitment to the pursuit of dining excellence, Lumierè’s success and popularity would not be possible,” says David Sidoo. This is the sixth year that Lumière has received the prestigious Five Diamond Award.
The AAA Diamond Rating process is North America’s premier rating program. According to AAA, Five Diamond restaurants are ranked as ‘world class’. They are renowned and consistently provide a world-class experience. This is ‘haute cuisine’ at its best. Menus are cutting edge, using only the finest ingredients available. Food is prepared in a manner that is highly imaginative and unique. The combination of technique and ingredients is extraordinary, reflecting the impeccable artistry and awareness of highly-acclaimed chefs. A maître d’ leads an expert service staff that exceeds guest expectations by attending to every detail in an effortless and unobtrusive manner.
Lumière is a one of just three Grand Relais & Chateaux class restaurants in Canada, one of 160 in the world. Lumière is Daniel Boulud’s second gastronomique restaurant – one he describes as “a dream come true for every chef … a 45-seat jewel box.”
With its provocative blend of European sophistication, modern French sensibilities and Westcoast innovation, Lumière cuisine speaks a language all its own. Chefs Daniel Boulud and Dale MacKay have captured the imaginations and palates of fine food lovers from all over the world. The beautiful, newly renovated room with its intimate scale and plush, voluptuous proportions, reintroduces Vancouver to one of its best-loved culinary destinations.
Executive Chef Dale MacKay is one of Canada’s best new Chefs, who came to Lumière from the kitchens of the famed Gordon Ramsay restaurants in London, Tokyo and New York. Lumière enters its second decade in Vancouver with a remarkable new partnership with Daniel Boulud and his Dinex Group. Based in New York City, Daniel is committed to a continued presence in the Lumière and db Bistro Moderne Vancouver kitchens, both in person and in daily consultation with his chefs.
