Tea & Two Slices: On Canada In Libya And Boston Winning Media Hearts And Minds…

by Sean Orr | The Toronto Star jumps the gun, trumpets how Canucks won the Stanley Cup in Game 6. That’s OK, just run that same one tomorrow…

Meanwhile, Boston is somehow winning the hearts and minds of journalists: Likable Tim Thomas out to beat disliked Canucks. Right, we get a 4 game suspension on an interference penalty and Boychuck gets nothing for literally breaking May Ray’s back…

“Things I will do for a Game 7 ticket.” Not me (someone on Craigslist).

Issue of prostitutes’ choice raised in appeal court. Does anyone really choose to be a prostitute though? That’s like saying drug addiction is a choice so it’s their responsibility and not the government’s. Oh wait, never mind. They do say that.

Canada went into Libya with lofty ideals and little knowledge. So then exactly like Harper himself?

HST good for B.C.’s businesses and economy. Yeah well, therein lies the rub: if we vote yes (to repeal) we are essentially voting for more taxes, while voting no is saying yes to a tax cut. It’s a brilliant piece of political blackmail when you think about it.

Not a Sun Media editorial: Who the %$&# needs unions anyway? CUPW, they brought you paid maternity leave and are the only national union to participate in divestiture from Israel. Also, they look hot in their uniforms.

Canada Causes Cancer. And then wants you to treat it privately: Canada Health Accord Renegotiation Means Canadians Should Stand on Guard.

No ‘incidents’ after weekend UFC: police. Probably because everyone forgot that other sports existed. “Saturday night’s event was not a sell-out but Sean Bickerton of the Crosstown Residents Association said the atmosphere in the Tinseltown neighbourhood was “very rowdy.” Pfft, that wasn’t rowdy. Whalley Exchange circa 1984 was rowdy.

Mr. Van Horne gets skinned. Well, Mr. Van Horne got his revenge, and the east side paid the price.

sorry, are you suggesting there’s no choice involved? that I may some day wake up and find that I’m a heroin addict? really?!

I’m in favour or legalisation and additional funding for treating addicts but I don’t believe it’s a disease

  2. Well choice is an interesting thing. Sometimes we make a choice because others have been taken away. The marginalized are almost always those who end up addicts. Those with history of abuse, mental health, or in some cases, born addicted. NOBODY wakes up and says they want to be an addict, and not everyone who tries drugs becomes one. There are biological, social, and geographic causes. Trying drugs once is not (usually) a cause. Addiction is an affect. Don’t confuse the affect with the cause.

  3. this may not be topical considering the events of last night, but THANK YOU for calling out the no discipline for the MayRay hit!! Boychuk had plenty of time to course correct and toss him to the side given the extremely dangerous position Raymond was in, but chose to really hurt him.

    disgusting.
