About Irish Heather Shebeen

The Irish Heather and its Shebeen Whisk(e)y House have been a fixture in Vancouver for 25 years…first in Gastown and now (due to COVID) in Chinatown. Long ago, The Irish Heather became recognized as the best pint of Guinness in the city, for serving restaurant quality food in a pub environment, friendly staff and authenticity.

Voted best Bar Food by the Georgia Street readership for 16 years in a row, the menu is less Irish and more a reflection on what would be eaten in Ireland today. With hundreds and thousands of Irish people traversing the globe, it has always been crazy to assume that Irish Stew was the limit of our desires. Thai food, Indian, Mediterranean, Continental, Chinese are more popular in Ireland than ever before and can easily be found threaded through most Irish menus.

It’s no different in the Irish Heather Shebeen, where a smashed cheeseburger shares menu space with a baked piece of fresh fish on a coconut rice with a mango salsa.

Apart from friendliness, it’s our curated, award winning whiks(e)y list that sets us apart. Voted one of the world’s best lists by Irish whiskey writers, it is a vast, accessible and good value.
