ABOUT Il Caminetto

Whistler’s iconic Il Caminetto continues the delicious storytelling as a food and wine destination restaurant as it prepares for its relaunch in Winter 2017. Toptable Group takes the steady reins from famed restaurateur Umberto Menghi, and will reimagine the storied restaurant’s 200-seat dining room. Situated in the heart of the village, Il Caminetto’s airy space takes its cues from Italian design both modern and traditional.

After 20 years as the Executive Chef of Whistler’s iconic Araxi Restaurant + Oyster Bar, James Walt will take the helm of Il Caminetto while continuing to oversee the food programs of all Whistler venues. An early pioneer of farm-to-table dining, Chef Walt’s seasonally focused menus are known for celebrating the excellence of locally sourced ingredients. Under his direction, Il Caminetto’s new menu will meld Italian and local flavours to showcase the best of nearby farms and waters.
