Whistler’s iconic Il Caminetto continues the delicious storytelling as a food and wine destination following its relaunch in Winter 2017. Toptable Group has taken the steady reins from famed restaurateur Umberto Menghi, and reimagined the storied restaurant’s 200-seat dining room. Situated in the heart of the village, Il Caminetto’s airy space takes its cues from Italian design both modern and traditional.
After over 20 years as the Executive Chef of Whistler’s legendary Araxi Restaurant + Oyster Bar, James Walt also helms the kitchen at Il Caminetto while continuing to oversee the food programs of all Toptable Group Whistler venues. An early pioneer of farm-to-table dining, Chef Walt’s seasonally focused menus are known for celebrating the excellence of locally sourced ingredients. Under his direction, Il Caminetto’s menus meld Italian and local flavours with artisanal flair.
