Remember the mind-blowing creations at Vancouver Mini Maker Faire last summer? Remember the infectious, do-it-yourself vibe? Well, you can jump back on the maker train this Thursday at a party in the Museum of Vancouver. There will be drinks, creative musical performances, hand-made art and altered books, interactive demonstrations and pakoras (yes, pakoras). There will be felting, crafting, a silent auction, door prizes, swag tables and more (pakoras!). Many makers will be on hand, too, so the room will be knee deep in creative juices. The event is an opportunity to meet with those who participated in last year’s highly successful Mini Maker Faire and learn how to become a volunteer, a maker, or an official sponsor for the next one, which goes down this June at the PNE. It’s a fundraiser, so bring some dosh.
If you’re not familiar with Maker Faire, have a look at our coverage of last year’s event here. The short story: “The Maker Faire Mission is to unite, inspire, inform and entertain the general community. It’s an all-ages family festival promoting the ethos of Do-It-Yourself (DIY) on a large scale. Maker Faire is a fun interactive collection of demonstrations, exhibits, workshops and displays.” Check it out.
