Burnaby’s Horizon’s Restaurant Knocked Out By Morning Fire

adfbgBurnaby’s Horizon’s Restaurant hit by early morning fire. The Vancouver Sun has the sad skinny:
“More than 30 Burnaby firefighters battled a fire in the roof of Horizons Restaurant on Thursday morning.

“We got the call just after 7 a.m.,” said assistant fire chief Ward Rossiter. “We had 34 firefighters fighting the fire through the roof. … The fire was knocked down in about 45 minutes and we’re just making sure we knock out any hot spots.”

By 9 a.m., most of the firefighters were rolling up their hoses and leaving, with fire investigators taking the lead. Rossiter said the old wood building presented some challenges for firefighters.

“Because it’s a tongue-and-groove roof, we had to fight it from above,” said Rossiter, who said there were two ladder trucks used in the effort.

Because of the restaurant’s location in Burnaby Mountain Park overlooking the city, the blaze could be seen for afar.”

Our hearts go out to the staff and owners. Let’s hope you rebuild and can get back to work!
