The GOODS from The Waldorf Hotel

Vancouver, BC | The Waldorf Hotel and Host Kurtis Kolt are busy prepping for their next edition of the very successful East Van Wine Academy series of wine course and parties, this time featuring the wines of France next Tuesday April 26th at 7:00pm.

“Learning about France will help you make huge strides in understanding wine in general” says Kolt, “From the Cabernet and Merlot blends of Bordeaux to Burgundy’s Pinot Noirs, the aromatic Alsatians and, of course, Champagne; a virtual tour through France’s history, regions and grape varietals will give guests a well-rounded comprehension of global wine basics.”

The East Van Wine Academy Wine Course is a great format for both restaurant and wine industry professionals to brush up on their knowledge, and casual wine enthusiasts to gain a better understanding of various aspects of the wine world that will serve to enhance their enjoyment of what’s in the glass. Further details after the jump…

Attendees will also learn how to decipher French labels, get food pairing tips, a list of recommended bottles available in Vancouver plus a collectible Waldorf Wine ‘Zine as a keepsake reminder of everything they’ve just learned! Along with the Wine Course, guests will also receive access to the “After School” party in the Waldorf Hotel’s World Famous Tiki Bar and two tasting vouchers to get their sampling started.

The “After School” party offers a fantastic opportunity to put new found knowledge to use as guests are immersed in French wine culture with numerous wines on offer, along with canapés, visuals and vinyl selected by resident DJs. “After School” is also a casual, fun atmosphere for those who want to skip school but are still interested in enjoying the wine-oriented surroundings, receiving the Waldorf Wine ‘Zine and partaking in the more casual aspect of the event.

Tickets for the East Van Wine Academy are $35, and for those who want to skip class and head to the “After School” event, tickets are $10.

About The Waldorf

After 63 years in business, East Vancouver’s Famous Waldorf Hotel has been reimagined as a creative compound where contemporary art, music, food and culture convene under one roof. Special events, unique spaces, great food and hospitality. There’s always something happening at The Waldorf.

Press

“While offering a nod to the hotel’s Polynesian lineage, the Waldorf redux has mercifully sidestepped kitsch to emerge as a landmark destination for creative travelers. A haven for artists, musicians and cultural thrill-seekers, the Waldorf offers an experience not easily forgotten, one that makes you feels as though you’re vacationing in New York rather than the heart of Vancouver’s east side.” – Globe and Mail
