Last Night’s Piemonte Dream At La Quercia

A superb dinner last night at La Quercia. Plenty of photos with dish descriptions below, plus the press release that brought it to my attention:

La Quercia Restaurant and Tyler Dawson (Ty the Wine Guy) present an exceptional evening of authentic Italian food and extremely rare Piedmont wines. On Sunday, March 1st, at 6:30 pm, 25 guests can enjoy a 6 course menu prepared by La Quercia owners and chefs Adam Pegg and Lucais Syme. To accompany each course, Tyler Dawson (Liberty Wine Merchants) has paired rare bottles exclusive for the evening. Piedmont wines come from the Northwestern Arch region at the base of the Alps and Apennines in Italy. The intimate, shoulder to shoulder environment of La Quercia lends itself to this special evening of wine education, once in a blue moon tasting opportunities, and sure to satisfy classic Italian food. Tyler will be providing his animated commentary on the wine selections and the various courses will be communicated by the chefs. The evening will surely leave guests feeling full of wine, food and knowledge.

“I have selected producers that I’d describe as exhibiting authenticity and lack of over manipulation,” Dawson states. “Many of the wines we will enjoy are not available for purchase. They are reserve bottles with extremely limited distribution and the opportunity to present them with the menu Adam and Lucais have created will make for a rare night out in Vancouver”.

“Adam and I are creating a classic Piedmont menu which will pair with Ty’s relatively obscure selections,” says Lucais Syme, co-owner and chef at La Quercia. “We are really looking forward to stepping out from our regular menu and working on creating a rare and interesting offering that works with these unique bottles. Our restaurant really lends itself to these intimate evenings where we can present incredibly unique wine with classic cuisine.”

It was an outstanding meal, and I hope they do something similar again next month and the month following.

Thanks for having us.
