The People

Mitsumi Kawai & Rob Leadley, Owners & Operators

About Kitoki Inn

Take a break. Press pause. Recharge. At Kitoki Inn, we invite you to unplug from daily distractions and reconnect with nature, with others, and with yourself.

Our bright, modern cabins and our open-air, onsen-style bathhouse provide an inviting environment in which to immerse yourself in the healing calm of Bowen Island’s lush rainforest.

Explore the outdoors or unwind in the hot tub, catch up with a cherished friend or find a quiet moment for reflection. A stay at Kitoki is all about rest and rejuvenation, however you choose to experience it.

Evoking the restorative properties of the forest, ‘Kitoki’ is not only our name but our ethos. We’ve designed Kitoki as both a home for ourselves and home-away-from-home for our guests. From the design to the daily operations, we are proud to share our vision for what a holiday or a retreat can be: comfortable, restorative, and memorable. We also strive to support our community by engaging in local partnerships.

As settlers on the unceded territory of the Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish) people, we are grateful to live in this beautiful natural environment and are mindful of our responsibility to protect the air and forests and waterways for everyone to enjoy.

We invite you to return to nature at Kitoki and reconnect with what matters most.

Our Bathhouse

Perched on a secluded bluff with a view of the forest canopy, our bathhouse offers guests a distinctive outdoor spa experience.

Taking inspiration from Japanese onsen, the traditional hot springs revered for their restorative effects, we’ve created a peaceful space that encourages rest and rejuvenation. Soak away your cares in the soothing waters of the hot tub, refresh your senses in the hydrotherapy shower, and relax in the garden by the wood-burning fireplace.

There’s no need to worry about Bowen’s fickle weather, either—the covered, open-air bathhouse can be enjoyed year-round.
