Bauhaus Restaurant was inspired by the early 20th-century design movement “Bauhaus” translated to “construction house” which was famous for its unique approach to architecture and design where every form has a function. Using these principles for each dish on the menu, the chefs at Bauhaus source only the best quality ingredients, staying true to their form and matching them with flavors that all have a function on the plate.

Their new tasting menu celebrates the warm colors and flavors of the cold seasons. Inspired by the remembrance of winters in Germany, Executive Chef Christian Kuehnel shaped this season’s menu focusing on flavors from cool forests and distinctly highlighting them with slow-cooking, curing and fermentation techniques that develop a unique profoundness in each course. Christian Kuehnel, began his career in Frankfurt at the five-stars Kempinski Hotel, and over the years he’s had the opportunity to work at some of the best international restaurants, including Dinner by Heston Blumenthal in London, listed on the World’s Top 50 Best Restaurants, and Spices, owned by Tim Raue and featured on the Netflix series Chef’s Table.

Bauhaus has had the honor of being a highly-acclaimed restaurant for its unique contemporary German cuisine. Just this year, Bauhaus was listed as one of the 100 Best Restaurants in Canada, won “Best European” category at the Where Magazine Awards, and was nominated for “Best Upscale” at the 30th anniversary of the Vancouver Magazine Awards. However, on the international stage Bauhaus was highlighted as a restaurant to watch by The ‘World’s 50 Best Restaurants’ Diner’s Discovery Series, a list which considers the “next generation of dining destinations”; listed as one of the best German bars and restaurants around the world by CNN; and as part of the new global face of German cuisine by Wine Enthusiast.
