Baker’s Breakfast Joint is a business that sells Taiwanese breakfast items and treats such as steamed buns, fresh soy milk, egg tarts and more.
Chef/Owner Baker Hsu was born in Taipei, Taiwan where he draws most of his inspirations from. His fondest memories as a child were always centered around food. Going to traditional markets for local produce and fresh meat and seafood early in the morning with his mother on the weekends were always the highlight of his day. After immigrating to Canada, Chef Baker has done stints at Hawksworth, Alo, Coi, and most recently Torafuku, where he lead the team to earning a spot on the list of Michelin recommended restaurants in Vancouver.
Our food is traditional Taiwanese at heart. However, with Chef Baker’s illustrious experience, we are not afraid to step outside of the box to be innovative and to incorporate what we’ve learned into our business. Our focus is centred on using the best ingredients possible. At Baker’s Breakfast Joint, all of our steam buns are made with flour from Anita’s Organic Mill’s in Chilliwack, and our fresh soy milk is made with organic Canadian soybeans. We believe using the best local and sustainable ingredients yields the best products, and in tandem, it is our way to help support and give back to local farmers and producers.
We are operating out of YVR Prep located in Burnaby, near the Brentwood neighbourhood. You can either order directly online through the site, or you can find us at various Farmers Markets or pop-up events throughout Vancouver’s Lower Mainland.
