Hall of Fame Award-Winner Chef Leads BC Hotel’s Culinary Team

The Goods from Aura Waterfront Restaurant

Victoria, BC | Aura Waterfront Restaurant + Patio at Inn at Laurel Point is fully open for summer with the best seats overlooking Victoria’s renowned Inner Harbour and a culinary team led by award-winning chefs. Its Executive Chef Ken Nakano was recently named to be inducted into the 2023 B.C. Restaurant Hall of Fame for his exemplary leadership in team building and management.

Leading with a farm-to-table approach, the hotel grows vegetables and herbs in its kitchen garden. “We work as a team, and passionately discuss our menu and how to present it to our guests and visitors,” said Ken Nakano. “We harvest herbs and vegetables from our garden approximately 750 lbs. every year. Growing and harvesting food fosters our creativity throughout the culinary team,” Nakano adds.

Aura Restaurant is Green Certified with BC Green Business and the hotel is on its way to becoming Biosphere certified. “Our leadership team and staff have the shared mission of leading the charge towards a sustainable future and showcasing a commitment to the guests and community,” said Eda Koot, General Manager at Inn at Laurel Point.

In addition to the new award for the culinary team, Aura has also been named the Best Patio by the YAM Magazine Best Restaurant Awards 2023. The restaurant and patio offer a new lunch menu with sharable plates for summer visitors, zero-proof cocktails and cocktail flights featuring local distilleries, and a deliciously contemporary take on the afternoon tea experience.

Aura Waterfront Restaurant + Patio welcomes visitors and locals every day during summer and hosts a DJ patio session every Wednesday from 4 PM to 8 PM.
