Como Taperia Welcomes Kristi Linneboe as New Wine Director

The GOODS from Como Taperia

Vancouver, BC | ¿CóMO? Taperia (201 E 7th Ave) is thrilled to welcome a new member to its award-winning team, industry leader Kristi Linneboe, as manager and wine director.

Linneboe most recently spent six months in the Okanagan with Tantalus Vineyards, where she worked alongside winemakers David Paterson and Taylor Ballantyne on the 2020 harvest.

“You are only as good as your team, and we are honoured to have Kristi join ours,” says Shaun Layton, co-owner of ¿CóMO? Taperia. “Kristi is very well-respected in the industry. She brings a ton of experience, heart, and positive energy to Como. Her breadth of wine knowledge is next to none, and we look forward to seeing her in-action next month.”

Linneboe was previously general manager and wine director of Gastown’s celebrated L’Abattoir. During her four-year tenure, she mentored staff, led groundbreaking monthly ‘Thirsty for Knowledge’ educational wine seminars, and hosted weekly blind tastings with professionals in the wine community. Under her leadership, L’Abattoir won several awards for its wine list.

She credits her five years at Maenam for kick-starting her sommelier journey after discovering the magic of pairing food and wine together. Her “ah-ha” moment? Spicy green curry with an off-dry Riesling.

“I’m excited to join the Como team and further evolve its excellent wine portfolio,” says Linneboe, who got her start in the hospitality industry by working late nights and weekends in restaurants and bars to help finance her education. “Como transplants you to another place and provides Vancouver with an authentic taste of European food and wine culture. I see many Finos, Cavas, and Manzanilla Sherries in my future.”

Linneboe has her WSET (Wine & Spirit Education) Level 3 and is working towards completing her WSET Diploma.

“Wine is all about the story – who made it, what makes it different from other wines, why it tastes the way it does, and why it is the right wine for that moment,” adds Linneboe.

¿CóMO? Taperia is currently open Wednesday to Sunday. Guests can make reservations online via Resy. For more information, please visit www.comotaperia.com.
