The GOODS from the City of Vancouver
Vancouver, BC | On February 3rd, some of Greater Vancouver’s most creative and compelling thinkers on Climate Change are coming together at the Orpheum Theatre for an evening of education, discussion, and live music called “Bold Actions for a Climate Emergency”.
This will be an informative and motivating event organized by the City to share stories of bold action, highlight the need for collective action and systems change, and inspire Vancouverites to continue to move the dial on climate change in the decade ahead.
The lineup of presenters for the night represent a variety of specialists, organizations, cultural and generational perspectives, including expert speakers from UBC, SFU, Vancouver Coastal Health, the COV, and the Squamish Nation Council, plus local youth activists Sustainabiliteens. Over the course of a few hours, they’ll be discussing personal, historical and scientific ideas about climate change, as well as what’s in store for Vancouver specifically. The night will end on a musical note, with an upbeat performance by local indie band Hey Ocean!
Climate Change is an overwhelming issue: it can rile us up one moment or make us feel hopeless the next, which is why community events like ‘Bold Actions’ are so important. This is a chance to gather together with your peers, sit down, and listen in on important conversations between some of our most dedicated and caring citizens and professionals in an atmosphere full of productive energy. It’s when we come together that we have the best chance at effecting change!
Doors open at 6pm with a chance to learn more and get involved through an exhibition of local organizations and opportunities set up in the Orpheum lobby. Speakers take the stage from 6:45pm until 9:30pm.
