Vancouver, BC | We’re making a batch of Tourtière this week so you can celebrate Québec Independence Day with a traditional French Canadian dinner. The pies are being prepared this week. They will be available at the East Van store starting Thursday, and will be available at the Kitsilano store starting Friday, after 2pm.

They will be available in two sizes: Sm $12.50 / Lg $38.00

Also, all Quebec Cheeses will be 10% off, one day only (Monday June 24).

Frankly as a French Canadian I’m irked at this essentialism – St-Jean is a French Canadian thing, and tourtiere is also a French Canadian thing, but that does not mean by any stretch that people do or should eat tourtiere on St-Jean! You serve tourtiere in the goddamn month of June in Quebec, you get laughed out of town. It’s a winter food!!!

    …that’s probably not gonna stop me from copping one of these though, thank you.
