Bells and Whistles Announces ‘The Big Lebowski’ Viewing Party on May 26

The GOODS from Bells and Whistles

Vancouver, BC | Bells and Whistles has plenty of things rolling both inside and out this spring as the Fraserhood hotspot opens its patio and debuts a second edition of its popular movie series on Sundays at 9 p.m. with a showing of The Coen Brothers’ 1998 film-noir cult classic The Big Lebowski as a highlight on May 26.

That night, disciples of ‘The Dude’ can really tie the room together, trade lines and toss back free popcorn while tasting new oat sodas now part of the core beer menu — like the exclusive Beere Brewing ‘Glory Daze’ IPA, Fuggles & Warlock’s ‘Kiwami’ plum sour and Twin Sails’ ‘Would Crush’ raspberry wheat ale — for $5.50 a pint during happy hour from 10 p.m. to close. Bells and Whistles’ bartenders will also be mixing up White Russian cocktails for $8 throughout the night.

The Bells and Whistles Sunday Night Movie Series continues this weekend, May 5, with Napoleon Dynamite before showing Step Brothers on May 12, Jurassic Park on May 19, Dumb & Dumber on June 2, Rush Hour on June 9 and Ace Ventura: Pet Detective on June 16.

“Our Sunday night movie series was a big hit right off the bat, but we kept getting the same request from our guests: give us The Dude. Or His Dudeness. Or El Duderino, if you’re not into the brevity thing,” said Bells and Whistles manager Ogi Radoicic. “So here it is, in all its glory. Some burgers, some beers, a few laughs… your troubles are over.”

Bells and Whistles has also officially welcomed patio season by opening the doors and dusting off its wrap-around deck, giving guests the perfect place to soak in the sun and partake in the restaurant’s new lineup of always-delicious, always-double cocktails including glasses or group-friendly fishbowls of pink sangria (rosé, brandy, fresh citrus, berries), frozen mai tais (Havana 7 yo rum, Gosling’s dark rum, Cointreau, lime, passionfruit, orgeat) and ‘daisy dukes’ (Havana 3 yo rum, lemon, raspberry, soda).

ABOUT THE BIG LEBOWSKI | The Big Lebowski is a 1998 American noir stoner comedy crime drama written, produced and directed by the Coen Brothers. It stars Jeff Bridges as Jeffrey ‘The Dude’ Lebowski, a slacker and devoted bowler living in Los Angeles. After he is assaulted as a result of mistaken identity, The Dude learns of the intended victim — a millionaire who shares the same name. When the other Jeffrey Lebowski’s trophy wife is kidnapped, he commissions The Dude to deliver the ransom for her release, but the plan inevitably goes awry when The Dude’s friend, Walter Sobchak (played by John Goodman), schemes to get his hands on the cash. Although not a box office success when it was first release, The Big Lebowski has since ascended to cult status with legions of loyal fans around the globe.
