Be a Good Egg and Hunt for Meaningful Treats at East Van Roasters

The GOODS from East Van Roasters

Vancouver, BC | If you are on the hunt for chocolate with heart this Easter season, look no further than East Van Roasters (319 Carrall St., Vancouver). The artisanal chocolate goods are made bean-to-bar (or egg) by this certified charity and social enterprise operated by the PHS Community Services Society, using only organic, fair and direct-trade chocolate.

“Making real chocolate is a labour of love and it requires exceptional cacao beans to produce exceptional flavour,” explains East Van Roasters manager Shelley Bolton. “Our purpose is to give back to our immediate community but we also support communities in countries across the ocean by purchasing quality cacao beans from small farms at a fair price.”

This Easter, East Van Roasters has crafted adorable natural chocolate treats with flavours inspired by spring. The 2019 Easter collection includes eggs, pops, bunnies and fresh bars made with dark, dark milk and white vegan chocolate. East Van Roasters | East Van Roasters is a social enterprise operated by the PHS Community Services Society that roasts specialty coffee and makes bean-to-bar chocolate using single origin, direct and fair trade beans. Situated in the historic Rainier Hotel at 319 Carrall St., East Van Roasters is a fully registered charity that employs women who have experienced challenges living in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside, and who benefit from a flexible and supportive work environment where they learn to produce fine chocolate and coffee and baked goods. All proceeds go back to supporting the social enterprise and the work they do to remove barriers for women in the community.
