Inside ‘The Pie Hole’ — Opening Soon in Kits

The Pie Hole is opening a new location at 1864 West 4th Avenue. Those who frequent the neighbourhood will recognise this as the old Sitka retail store beside the gas station at Cypress Street (same block as Mark’s Work Warehouse and Ramen Danbo).

Owner Jenell Parsons showed me around the 2,400 sqft address on Monday afternoon. It will be the third location of The Pie Hole, a local company that specialises in all kinds of pie, from apple and sour cherry to bacon cheeseburger and Fat Elvis.

When it’s revealed in late April, the new spot will have an old school diner vibe with seating for 16 at the counter, in the window and along a custom banquette.

The interior will see chrome and neon with a sparkly floor, plus a retail component anchored by frozen grab-n-go pies. Jenell – who also has a cookbook in the works- says she will be setting up a “Pie School” within the space — a workshop area dedicated to baking classes and other special events.
