Visualising Every US Numbered Highway System Mapped in Numerical Order

(via) This in-numerical order visualisation of US numbered highways (not the bigger Interstate highways) is hard to look away from, and not only because it demonstrates the fact – entirely new to me – that all east-west highways are even numbered while the north-south highways are odd numbered. It’s also really cool to see the shape of the contiguous United States slowly revealed as the labyrinthine network of highways grows out of the eastern seaboard.

(For what it’s worth, the 101 is totally where it’s at.)
