Green Men

Welcome to the Vancouver Lexicon. Its purpose is to pin down the patois of the City of Vancouver by recording its toponyms, nicknames, slang terms, personalities, places, and other Van-centric things. Full A-Z here.

Green Men | sports, legend | Two die-hard Vancouver Canucks fans, Adam Forsyth and Ryan Sullivan (aka “Force” and “Sully”). They became known as the Green Men in 2009 because they regularly wore full-body green spandex suits to Canucks games.

Force and Sully’s seats were right next to the glass of the penalty box, setting the stage for them to tease any and all members of the opposing team – often with elaborate props – whenever they were serving time, much to the delight of their fellow fans.

Sadly, the Green Men hung up their spandex in 2014. The Canucks have not won a playoff round since their retirement.

Usage: “Don’t you think the Green Men should be paid to be at the games…like as much or even more than the zamboni guy?”
