We Want This Lunar ‘Orbit’ Light So We Can Play God at the Dinner Table

We’re a pretty satisfied bunch, but that doesn’t mean we aren’t covetous. Sometimes we see things out there that we just must have. Cool Things We Want is an archive of those earthly desires.

(via) The Orbit Light by South African artist Jesse Ede was inspired by the journeys that moons take around planets. Made of solid brass, the light sees a bulb (a moon) suspended at the end of a long, elegantly curved arm that can rotate a full 360 degrees around a “planet”, which is really, a cast-bronze dome. The light-emitting moon can be positioned at the owner’s whim and fancy, the lighting effect changing with every degree it moves.
