Cowichan Valley Chef Cook-Off Set For Sept. 15

The GOODS from Blue Grouse

Cowichan Valley, BC | Chef Dan Hudson, winner of Chopped Canada, and chef Ian Blom of The Old Firehouse Wine and Cocktail Bar are revving up to host a rare collaborative Cowichan Valley Cook-Off at Blue Grouse Estate Winery on September 15th (6:30pm).

In spirit of this cook-off event, each chef will prepare three courses featuring local ingredients paired to Blue Grouse wines. Each course (a total of six courses) will be be served to guests without knowing which chef created each dish. At the end of the event, attendees will receive a score card to vote for their favourite three dishes. The chef receiving most votes wins the cook-off and takes home endless bragging rights.

As winner of Chopped Canada and contestant for Top Chef Canada, Hudson already has his competitive edge fired up to cook against Blom, who is well known for his skill in creating dishes using seasonal Cowichan ingredients. Blom and Hudson revealed that the evening will include Korean-inspired flavours, fresh BC seafood and more to be unveiled on the day of the cook-off.

This is the first cook-off to take place in Cowichan Valley and tickets are expected to sell-out quickly. Tickets are on sale now for $95 per person. Limited seats available.

Wines pairings available for purchase onsite. Order by the glass for $10 or full-course wine pairings for $30.
