JOB SUMMARY:

The successful candidate will be passionately guest and service focused. A Café Manager who is constantly looking for ways to support the service team in their quest to represent the outstanding artisanal quality of Thierry products. The Café Manager is responsible for more than just leading and supporting the day-to-day operations of the cafe, in that he/she will show commitment to excellence in all that they do. Working closely with both front-of-house staff, the Pastry team and the President to ensure that customers receive the highest levels of service excellence.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
(Other duties may be assigned as required)

– Proactively identifies, evaluates, and continually improves service strategies to always ensure our customers receive best in class service
– Provides ongoing leadership, development and motivation to the front-of-house team
– Recruits, onboards, trains, performance manages, and schedules the front-of-house staff
– Works closely with the Pastry Chef and culinary team to support and deliver a unique culinary experience
– Manages all health, safety and sanitation standards, ensuring that requirements are met and maintained
– Actively engages with guests, cultivating relationships and guest satisfaction
– Identifies root causes of gaps in customer satisfaction and assists in the development of corrective and proactive action plans where appropriate
– Ensures all fixed assets are in good working condition, oversees preventative maintenance of assets
– Develops and maintains food quality control, profit and loss controls, inventory levels, and labor and product cost monitoring
– Accountable for the development of sales budgets and responsible for the successful execution of these budgets
– Generates business growth through local marketing initiatives
– Oversees the development of short and long term financial and operational plans
– Performs other duties as assigned or directed
– Proactively responds to third party review sites and guest comments in coordination with the Communications team
– Assists with photo shoots to develop Communications assets for website, social media, promotional collateral, etc.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

– 5+ years of experience managing a similar venue
– An inspiring leader who has proven skills motivating a team to achieve its highest potential
– Related post-secondary education that supports the role
– Highly committed to a premium level of quality in both guest service and the overall operation of the cafe
– Strong problem-solving skills with demonstrated commitment to immediate service recovery solutions
– Skilled at developing and creating experiences that drive customer satisfaction and loyalty
– Superior communication, conflict resolution skills, with the ability to relate professionally to all levels of staff, management, clientele, suppliers, and partners
– Excellent planning and organizational skills
– Ability to handle conflicting deadlines and prioritize
– Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications required
– Level 1 and Level 2 Food Safe Certification
– Serving It Right License
– Flexibility to work weekends and holidays
