ONO x ONO – Father & Son Collaborative Dinner at Mak N Ming on June 16

The GOODS from Mak N Ming

Vancouver, BC | To celebrate Father’s Day this year, Mak N Ming is honoured to bring you a special collaboration dinner on Saturday, June 16th: ONO x ONO, where Chef Makoto Ono will be working the line alongside his father, Chef Sadao Ono, for the first time in Vancouver.

We were delighted (and happily surprised) that Mr. Ono agreed to come out of retirement and hop on a plane to come cook with us. Chef Sadao, considered by many as “the father of sushi in Winnipeg”, opened Edohei, that city’s first sushi restaurant in 1988, and has since been a pioneer of Japanese culture and cuisine in the region.

Inspired by his father, Chef Makoto’s passion for cooking developed from a young age; his upbringing is clear in a humble style of cooking that frequently highlights his Japanese roots and the memories of home-cooked meals.

This one evening father and son collaboration will feature a 6+ course omakase-style set dinner. Our apologies but we will be unable to accommodate dietary restrictions for this event. Dinner is priced at $105 per person. 2 Seatings are available at 6:00pm and 8:30pm. Reservations are available now through OpenTable.

(Please note that our Chef’s and Demi menus will not be available on this evening.)
