Vancouver, BC | Reporting to the Director of Communications, the Social Media Specialist provides support to the Director of Communications and senior members of the Toptable Group team. The Social Media Specialist will also have regular interaction with chefs and management at each restaurant, which may require duties that fall outside of regular work hours to capture content.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Social Media:

– Develop and execute insightful social media strategy/campaigns over all platforms (Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram) for all venues
– Produce a monthly calendar of posts across all platforms to bring Toptable Group venues to life and reach target guests/customers
– Actively produce high quality content across all venues that tell the story of Toptable Group
– Define, champion and continually improve the brand voice for all venues
– Maintain 3rd party websites such as OpenTable, TripAdvisor, Google, Yelp, Zomato, Tourism Vancouver, Tourism Whistler, etc.
– Respond to comments/reviews on any social media platforms on a daily basis to maintain reputation management of all brands
– Ensure that followers, engagement and reach are trending upward
– Monitor sites for activity related to Toptable Group, each restaurant, and the industry for maximum exposure; reporting developments, identifying trends/issues and strategizing account activity
– Cultivate and maintain social media influencer relationships and discover new micro personalities to leverage brand and drive engagement
– Be an active member of the social community and host quarterly influencer events for content aggregation
– Prepare and execute social media plans for all new venues and their onboarding
– Review and report on the effectiveness of social media campaigns
– Develop and manage social contests
– Utilize social media best practices regarding talent acquisition initiatives on behalf of all venues

Public Relations:

– Write and distribute press releases to key media as required by the Director of Communications
– Monitor media, identify potential editorial opportunities and work with the Director of Communications to develop strategies
– Produce quarterly ‘Hot Off The Press’ media reports
– Develop creative story ideas to support each venue and assist with pitch development to local, national, and international media
– Develop and execute promotional strategies for venue events (i.e. Cornucopia, Unsung Heroes Festival, Araxi Longtable Dinner, etc.) with the Director of Communications
– Host media dinners at venues
– Develop and refine relationships with media, tourism, and industry professionals, with a focus on local, national and international food, wine and lifestyle media
– Utilize Meltwater functionalities for clip reports and tracking
– Acquire editorial calendars from key publications and trace for follow-up

Marketing:

– Utilize MailChimp’s functionality for best practices regarding but not limited to list maintenance, campaign distribution, and results assessment
– Contribute written communication for collateral, including newsletters and web copy, ensuring brand standards are -upheld
– Contribute direction on collateral design

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

– Post-secondary education in social media, communications, public relations, or related field
– Minimum 4 – 6 years experience working in a related role with established influencer relationships
– Professional experience with managing multiple social media accounts on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram essential
– Experience with MailChimp or other database management system essential
– A high level of proficiency with MS Word and Excel
– Exceptional organization, project management, and multi-tasking skills
– Strong written and verbal communication skills
– Strong attention to detail
– Photography skills considered an asset
– Ability to work independently and as part of a team
– Hospitality / Fine Dining industry experience considered an asset
– Flexibility to work evenings/weekend events as required to capture content
