The GOODS from Mamie Taylor’s
Vancouver, BC | Mamie Taylor’s is bringing a touch of Bourbon Street to Chinatown next month with two weeks of special Mardi Gras menus in honour of New Orleans’ 300th anniversary year.
If you haven’t haven’t already booked tickets and accommodations in The Big Easy, Mamie Taylor’s, Chinatown’s original home of Southern hospitality, will be letting the good times roll with two Mardi Gras-themed menus running February 2-8 and February 9-15. (Mardi Gras takes place on Feb. 13 this year)
Beginning at 5pm daily, the Mardi Gras Fresh Sheet will feature down-home Cajun and Creole delicacies such as Crayfish Bisque, Jumbalaya, and made-to-order Beignets with a coffee caramel sauce. These are complemented by classic New Orleans cocktails such as the La Louisiane, the Vieux Carré, the Sazerac and the Hurricane.
During the second week try your luck with a piece of King Cake, a traditional Carnival-season dessert with a hidden surprise baked inside. (In this case, a jade rooster instead of a Baby Jesus, in deference to Mamie’s Chinatown digs.) If you get the rooster in your piece, you get your cake for free!
