10 Reasons to Visit Fernie Brewing Co.’s New Tasting Room

The Goods from Fernie Brewing Co.

Fernie, BC | Whether local, semi-local or visiting from out of town, we have 10 very good reasons why the short pedal from Downtown Fernie to Fernie Brewing Co.’s revamped Tasting Room, is a worthy addition to your day…

Located 2 Minutes from Downtown Fernie | Located just 2 minutes east from downtown Fernie, easily reachable by bike, Fernie Brewing is the most Easterly brewery on the BC Ale Trail. Record snowfalls and world-class skiing put Fernie on the map as a winter destination, but our small mountain-town in the East Kootenays is now a year-round destination. With over 300kms over mountain bike trails, fantastic hikes, trail running, golf and world-renowned fly fishing, Fernie is a great place to come enjoy your favourite activity. Situated close to the US and Alberta airport and an hour from the Cranbrook airport, Fernie is within easy reach of those looking to plan an adventurous beer-cation.

Quality Ingredients | At our award-winning brewery, we take no short cuts. We use premium, two-row barley malt and European hops. We let our ales age to perfection and use no fillers, additives or preservatives. Many of our beers use unique ingredients such as the Huckleberries in What the Huck, Maple Syrup in Sap Sucker Maple Porter, Organic Pumpkins in our Pumpkin Head Brown Ale and Coffee from the Crowsnest Pass in Java the Hut Coffee Milk Stout.

A Beer for Every Taste | Our beer is at the forefront of everything we do, and the beautiful new Tasting Room is no exception. Visitors to the brewery can now choose from a selection of 12 FBC beers on tap for growler fills, 12oz pints, and Cheers to Charity! flights. Head brewer Jeff Demaniuk believes we have a beer for every taste. From the easy-drinking and popular Project 9 Pilsner, to the wonderfully nutty First Trax Brown Ale. The unique and hoppy rotating IPA series, to the numerous Limited Release and Seasonal brews. There’s always something new to try, and you always get first dibs at our Tasting Room.

Cheers to Charity | While there are many new additions and improvements to the space, a few key elements remain – including our “Cheers to Charity” program. All profits from all flights sold in our tasting room are allocated to a group benefitting our local Fernie community that, without funds, would not be able to operate. We are so fortunate to do business in Fernie, and so wanted to find a way to give back to our local community – it’s our way of saying “thanks”. With all profits benefitting local clubs and organizations, it’s the most worthwhile beer you’ll have all day.

Growler Fills | If you know what you want, Growlers are a great way to bring home your favourite brew. We have two sizes of growlers available to fill, with up to 12 beers to choose from. Bring your own, or purchase a growler in our Tasting Room and fill with your favourite FBC brew to enjoy at home.

Packaged Producs | Hitting the road, with no time to stop for a pint? With more cooler space than ever, we’ve got a great selection of packaged product so you can bring a little piece of Fernie home with you. With the latest bombers, 6-packs, tall cans and mixer packs available, our Tasting Room is a great place to stock up on your favourite brews, straight from the source.

Tasty Snacks | While we choose to direct customers towards Fernie’s amazing array of local restaurants for lunch or dinner, our Tasting Room has a great offering of tasty snacks to enjoy while you’re here. Choose from local beef jerky, nuts, pretzels, or chips for a delicious treat to accompany your brew.

Kegs for Direct Order | If you’re looking for a little more volume, we offer kegs for direct order from the brewery. Both 50L and 30L kegs are available with pumps, systems, and tubs for rent.

Great Merchandise | A trip to our Tasting Room is great for stocking up both your beer fridge and your closet! With an ever-changing selection of great FBC merch, you can find something for every member of the family, including the dog. If you’re sadly not in Fernie, you can choose from our full selection of merchandise on our online store.

More Space! | The driving force behind the renovation was the need for a little more elbow room in the Tasting Room, and the beautiful new space achieves just that! With more seating and improved flow, you can now enjoy a fresh brew at the bar, or on the patio without pushing through the crowd.

Located on Day 1 of the Kootenay Rockies East BC Ale Trail, a stop at Fernie Brewing Co.’s Tasting Room is well worth the trip.
