Restaurant Porn is a regular column of daydreams presented as a means to introduce Vancouver diners and designers to concepts, looks, and fully-formed ideas that they might draw an inkling of inspiration from. We do our best to pair the foreign rooms with local addresses so as to let everyone in on the daydream.

Chicago’s Revel Room (not to be confused with the Gastown restaurant of the same name) is a looker of the first order, one that we shouldn’t feel the least bit guilty about coveting for our own enjoyment here in Vancouver…
WHAT IT IS: A dark tavern with a long bar of two dozen stools, six cozy, buttoned-down leather booths, and a library-like back room with low-slung seats under shelves loaded down with pieces of wood cut to look like books.
WHERE IT IS: On one of the main drags through the neighbourhood of Wicker Park in Chicago, Illinois.
WHERE WE WISH IT WAS: On Venables just before Clark Dr, in Strathcona, on the same industrial stretch as La Casa Gelato (the pink ice cream place) and Luppolo Brewing Company.
WHY WE WISH IT WAS THERE: Because – and we’ve said this 1,000 times before – interesting neighbourhood bars make neighbourhoods more interesting.
