The GOODS from Cabrito

Vancouver, BC | Cabrito is hosting its first ever Sherry experience on Tuesday, February 28 from 6pm-10pm. The evening will see gets learning all about the production of Sherry and tasting 7 different Sherries from the Lustau lineup. These will be paired with different tapas to enhance the flavours of both the food and Sherry. Hosted by:

Myrna Santos Mayor, Caballero/Bodega Lustau Director of North America | In 1999 Myrna entered the Spanish wine industry and became especially enamoured by fortified wines. Working with the Osborne family group for a period of almost 10 years managing markets in US and Central America she began a new career path. At that time she developed an in-depth knowledge of Sherry and the Solera process for aging wines that provided education to trade and consumers alike while sparking an interest for the old-world artisanal wines.

In early 2009 she joined DZ Licores as US Manager for the group’s portfolio of Wines and Spirits, another Spanish owned company, leading the expansion of its flagship brand. Her passion for Sherry wines directed her steps in 2015 to Grupo Caballero as Director for No. America working for all portfolio brands including the well-known premium Sherries of the House of Lustau.

Alex Carriere, Chef – Cabrito Tapas | Chef Alex originates from France where he trained over a decade in 2 and 3 Michelin star restaurants. Since moving to Canada in 2008 he has spent his time cooking at DB Bistro/Lumiere, Nuba Restaurant Group, Le Parisien and Les Faux Bourgeois. Growing up he spent a lot of time in Spain as his father's home is in the Pyrenees and his love of tapas and the overall love of the country was the initial inspiration to open “Baby Goat”.

Myrna will be educating us on the process of Sherry making and introducing 7 of the Sherries from Bodega Lustau lineup while Chef Alex will be creating the perfect pairings to complement both food and Sherry.

Limited seats are available, make a reservation.

ABOUT CABRITO

30774063815_e88c2e50ae_b

Located in vibrant Commercial Drive, Cabrito is the neighborhood’s cozy nook focused on offering great Spanish cuisine.  It adds to the already rich cultural tapestry of this amazing neighborhood.  With a stunning mural drawn by local artist Yared Nigussu and rotating live entertainment varying from traditional Flamenco to Latin soul, it’s easy to be transported to the back streets of St. Sebastian.

Driven by Alex Carriere, French Chef/Owner who arrived in 2008 to Vancouver, Cabrito is a combination of different personalities and characters who bring their craft into a 36 seats restaurant, where you will find locally sourced produce, Ocean Wise seafood and non-medicated meat to recreate Spanish tapas with a twist, a selection of cheeses, charcuterie & seasonal small plates.

As no tapas experience is complete without libations, Cabrito boasts a strictly Spanish wine list with a variety of grape varietals from different regions in Spain. This, combined with a considerable amount of skill and talent behind it’s small bar makes drinking crafty cocktails a leisurely affair. The patio overlooking busy Commercial Dr. provides just the right setting where people watching and enjoying the company of old friends and new, the perfect pass time all year long.

In true Vancouver fashion, Cabrito has also taken the brunch experience to the streets of Spain with dishes utilizing Txistorra, Piquillo, and Jamon de Bellota.

Cabrito is open daily for dinner from 4PM-late and serves brunch from 10:00AM-15:00 every Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
