Reporting to the Director of Communications, the Communications Coordinator provides support to this role and other senior members of the Toptable Group team. The Communications Coordinator will also have regular interaction with chefs and management at each restaurant.

Responsibilities:

SOCIAL MEDIA

– Develop and execute social media strategy, including results assessment

– Create brand content with appropriate tone and style

– Post approved messaging in a timely manner on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, etc.

– Monitor sites for activity related to Toptable Group, each restaurant, and the industry for maximum exposure; reporting developments and strategizing account activity

– Extend brand guest experience on all social media platforms

– Follow trends and engage followers with appropriate messaging

PUBLIC RELATIONS

– Write and distribute press releases to key media as required by Communications Director

– Monitor media, identify potential opportunities and work with Communications Director to develop strategies

– Communicate all media reservation requests to restaurant teams (via Communications Intern)

– Assist the Communications Director with media tracking and ‘Hot Off The Press’ media reports

– Maintain media lists

– Develop creative story ideas to support each venue and assist with pitch development to local, national, and international media

– Develop and execute promotional strategies for venue events (i.e. Blue Water Cafe’s Unsung Heroes Festival, Araxi Longtable Dinner, CinCin’s Truffle Dinner, etc.) with Communications Director

– Host media dinners at venues

– Develop relationships with media, tourism, and industry professionals, with a focus on local, national and international food, wine and lifestyle media

– Acquire editorial calendars from key publications and trace for follow-up

– Coordinate charitable donation requests (via Communications Intern)

MARKETING

– Manage all functions of MailChimp email database including but not limited to list maintenance, campaign distribution, and results assessment

– Contribute written communication for collateral, including advertising, newsletters, and web copy, ensuring brand standards are upheld

– Contribute direction on collateral design to Creative Manager & Graphic Designer

– Manage promotion of restaurant cookbooks via publisher and distributor with Communications Director

– Ensure the brand is utilizing the potential of MailChimp to its fullest

– Keep web content current (with Communications Intern and Creative Manager & Graphic Designer)

– Maintain 3 rd party websites such as OpenTable, TripAdvisor, Google, etc (with Communications Intern)

– OTHER

Manage all aspects of Communications Intern position

Qualifications

– Post-secondary education in communications, marketing, public relations, or related field

– Minimum 4 – 6 years experience working in a related role

– A high level of proficiency with MS Word and Excel

– Exceptional organization, project management, and multi-tasking skills

– Database management skills essential

– Experience with MailChimp or other database management system essential

– Professional experience with social media for business essential

– HTML and Adobe Suite experience considered an asset

– Hospitality / Fine Dining experience considered an asset

– Strong written and verbal communication skills

– Strong attention to detail

– Ability to work independently and as part of a team

– Evening/weekend events as required

– Additional duties as required
