The GOODS from Cannery Brewing Company
Penticton, BC | Cannery Brewing’s newest beer is named “Kindling” and it is sure to light your fire this holiday season. The latest in Cannery Brewing’s Artisan Creations series, this rich and delicious Breakfast Stout is the perfect complement to Canada’s winter wonderland.
Ian Dyck, co-owner of Cannery Brewing explained, “From small things, great things come. The idea of this new beer was sparked by a conversation with the team from Red Beard Cafe in Kamloops. We decided to collaborate and craft a breakfast stout with their coffee, blended with bittersweet chocolate and oats.”
Edna and Mitchell Forgie, the owners of Red Beard Cafe were very excited to collaborate on this beer. “Cannery Brewing makes some of the best dark beers in BC, and we hope our coffee can flavour this stout with just that touch of bitterness and depth that will make it an exceptional beer to warm up with this winter. Cannery Brewing has been such a strong advocate for beer in the interior, and helped us so much starting out, it was wonderful to be able to help them out with what we see as a great coffee for their latest brew. We roasted this Brazil coffee just a little longer than normal to bring out flavours of caramel and extra body to enhance its presence in this breakfast stout.” Dyck explained, “Whether you are enjoying a day on the slopes or an evening by the fireplace, with 60 IBU’s and 8.0% alc./vol., this beer is sure to warm your spirits and your toes.”
All of the beers in Cannery Brewing’s Artisan Creations series feature labels that are artistically designed to match the artistry of the beer. Cannery Brewing worked with Skyler Punnett, an Okanagan-based illustrator and graphic designer on this label. Punnett described his design goals for the Kindling label. “I wanted to combine the ruggedness of the alpine with the cozy comfort of an A-frame cabin to get that ‘first beer after a bluebird day on the hill’ feel.”
Cannery Brewing’s Kindling Breakfast Stout is available in 650ml bottles at craft-beer focused stores throughout BC and Alberta, on tap at select restaurants, in Cannery Brewing’s taproom and at Red Beard Cafe. For more on this beer, visit: https://www.cannerybrewing.com/beer/kindling.
