The Goods from Elementa
Vancouver, BC | Elementa is excited to welcome our dear friends Chris Wolff and Jonathan Tu, the masterminds behind Oakland’s Journeymen, to Vancouver. Chris and Jonathan met while working at Viajante in London around the same time Josh and Ashley (of Elementa) were also at the now shuttered temple of experimental cuisine. The guys from Journeymen have a wealth of experience in some of the best kitchens, both in the USA and Europe, including Rich Table (SF), Bar Tartine (SF), wd-50 (NYC) and Le Chateaubriand (Paris). Combining their experiences, Chris and Jonathan’s cooking is innovative, playful and extremely tasty. This dinner – held a Cafe Medina – will be a collaborative effort between both groups. Courses will go back and forth from the urban, intensely flavoured dishes of Journeymen to the natural, earthy offerings of Elementa. As always, sommelier Justin Everett (Wildebeest) will be offering beverages to pair as well as a la carte options. The event on September 26th is the follow-up to a similar dinner held in Oakland earlier this year, when the Elementa team headed to the Bay Area. Elementa is a collective of young, ambitious culinary talents. We promote a modern approach to cooking in the Pacific Northwest. By harnessing the raw natural bounty and fertile abundance of the surrounding area, Elementa desires to connect people to place and to one another. We focus on small producers, building relationships with them, experimenting with wild edibles and forgotten ingredients.
