Vancouver, BC | Vancouver’s best Irish pub now has even more reason to brag. The Irish Heather’s Shebeen, Gastown’s whiskey destination, was recently named among the top 10 international Irish whiskey bars, as a result of the third annual Irish Whiskey Awards.

“I am delighted to be awarded Gold Medal in the category of International Irish Whiskey Bar of the Year. It is extremely gratifying to have a spotlight shone on our work, from so far away, by folks as notable as these,” said owner Seán Heather.

The award ceremony, which took place in Dublin, is one of the biggest celebrations of Irish Whiskey in the world. Shebeen is the only Canadian establishment named among the top 10 list, and was tied with Rome’s Scholar’s Lounge for the Gold Award, which is only second to the Trophy Award. While most locals can agree Shebeen is the city’s best place to sip whiskey, this award is sure to put the Vancouver pub on the map globally. “It is always great to be recognized, but it’s also very special to be recognized by your own people – especially when you are thousands of miles away,” said Heather.
