Vancouver, BC | Imagine a dinner party that begins at three o’clock in the afternoon on the wilderness trails of the great North with a team of sled dogs, and finishes 11 hours later on a frozen lake under the Northern Lights. Within that time, you might experience a cocktail in a bar from the 1800’s, a course while you watch hundreds of migrating snow geese, and even the luxury of an elegant dining room overlooking the lake. Amazing vistas, outstanding Yukon-inspired food and world class whiskies – this two-day culinary adventure is the ultimate dining indulgence!
On April 10-12, 2015, Edible Canada’s own Executive Chef, Eric Pateman, will collaborate with Chef Carson Schiffkorn of Inn on the Lake in Whitehorse, to celebrate the bounty of the great north and some of Canada’s best vintage whiskies. As a unique addition to our 2015 Coast-to-Coast Dinner Series, this is a road trip not to be missed. 20 lucky people will get to experience a culinary landscape that has captivated Chef Pateman since his first visit to the Yukon last summer. Chef Carson is known for bringing together generations of knowledge with an unparalleled passion and the finest local ingredients, including wild game and arctic char, showcasing the wild and mysterious north. That coupled with Pateman’s passion for everything Canadian and defining what Canadian food is, will most certainly lead to a meal to remember.
“This is a region that, while being known for having the cleanest air on the planet, is also home to an incredibly diverse culinary landscape. They hunt, grow and forage which allows them to showcase their natural surroundings through their cuisine”, says Pateman.
Guests will stay at the renowned Inn on The Lake for two nights in a rustic yet luxurious lodge ranked among National Geographic Traveller’s ‘Top 150 Places to Stay’. The price includes return airfare from Vancouver with Air North, as well as local transportation, and the whisky dinner itself. “Many of our guests have already booked extra days on either side of their trip to enjoy the stunning hospitality and landscape of the area”, according to Chef Pateman. With only 4 spaces left of the 20 allocated for the very special weekend, there is no time to delay.

About Eric Pateman, President & Founder
Edible British Columbia was created by Eric Pateman in the spring of 2005. Eric is a Vancouver native with a lifelong passion for food and wine. He has worked in the hospitality industry for over 15 years both as a chef and hotel consultant and has rated restaurants for the Mobil Travel Guide. Eric’s own culinary travels have taken him throughout North America, to the UK and to Africa where he has sought out unique food experiences. Edible British Columbia is the product of Eric’s fervor for great food and wine, his extensive knowledge of the hospitality industry and an enthusiasm for exceeding expectations when it comes to customer service. Eric is a past board member of the BC Culinary Tourism Society and the Vancouver Coast & Mountains Tourism Region. Eric is also a member of the Chef’s Table Society, Big Brothers of Greater Vancouver and supports many local charities including the Vancouver Food Bank and Les Dames D’Escoffier. Eric was named as one of Business in Vancouver’s Top 40 Under 40 Business People in 2007, and to Western Living Magazine’s list of the Top 40 Foodies Under 40 in Western Canada in 2008.
