The GOODS from Farmer’s Apprentice
Vancouver, BC | On December 10th, chef David Gunawan and Dara Young of South Granville’s Farmer’s Apprentice restaurant will serve a special five course set menu inspired by their recent trip to Slow Food’s annual Terra Madre conference in Italy (a world meeting of food communities that addresses topics such as climate change, population growth, animal welfare, food waste, land grabbing, and much more). “It was comforting to see such a large collective caring about the state of the earth,” Gunawan reports. “Their struggles against the industrialization of food were compelling, as were the extents to which they will go to preserve their culture, seeds, and heritage.” The special dinner will see partial proceeds donated to Slow Food Canada’s Gulf Island Convivium.
