On Kid Criminals, Old Journalists, And Never Planning For Poverty

by Sean Orr U.S. magazine calls Stephen Harper an ‘exceptional leader’. Ha! The Americans wouldn’t know an exceptional leader even if they elected one.

They can have Christy, too: Premier Clark slams parents of child protesters for allowing kids to break law. Yeah, this from the parent who ran a red light because her son told her to…from the parent who doesn’t even show up for work...from the parent whose government breaks the law like it’s going out of style…from the parent who doesn’t know the difference between breaking a law and breaking an injunction. “Teaching your kids that it’s OK for them to break the law when they’re 11 years old isn’t OK…” Wrong. Teaching your kids to stand up to perceived injustice is the best thing you can possibly teach your child. Thanks, Mom!

Hear no evil: NEB won’t consider Burnaby Mountain protests in Kinder Morgan decision. “While we may of course be aware of what’s going on outside of our hearing process, our role is pretty focused. We look at the evidence we have in front of us, the science, the information, and make a decision that’s based on that”. Except, of course…you know, climate science. “That’s really the role of the board. We are apolitical”. Ok, but are you acorporate?

At least the politicians are (sort of) listening: On pipelines, politicians are just listening to the people. “That discussion will obviously have to weigh very legitimate concerns about our climate with very legitimate worries about saying no to resource development and the bearing that will have on the country’s bottom line…” Nobody is ‘saying no to resource development’ for the umpeenth time, Gary Mason. You’re the one that isn’t listening. We just don’t want to give it away to corporations. Get it? Besides, it isn’t even that good for the GDP so stop repeating the false dichotomy of environment versus economy.

Regarding your complaint that climate activists drive, wear clothes, eat food and then fart methane, etc: Did the people who lived in the system propped up by slavery have no right to argue for its abolishment?

Last plan standing: Opinion: And then there was one. B.C. is now last province without a plan to tackle poverty. Splendor sine occasu. May the sun never set on British Columbia…

Meanwhile, in Toronto: Housing for all not a right, Ontario Court of Appeal rules in rejecting Charter challenge. “An estimated 235,000 people are homeless on any given night in Canada, according to a recent report. Many more are living in a situation of hidden homelessness, in inadequate or unstable housing…”

Or you could live in a $900 Rustic Attic. Sounds like domestic bliss.

Melissa De Genova spends 10 minutes unable to answer a yes or no question, and now she’s threatening to call the police over twitter comments:

In other social media news: The VPD introduce a new mascot to hilarious results. “His name’s Bobby and he’s visiting the VPD for the month of December. Word has it that he’s prone to acts of mischief, so check back to see what he gets up to…” Prompting this comment from Alex Smith: “Here’s Bobby shooting an unarmed, mentally ill person of colour, what a little scamp!”

Scahdenfreude of the day: Ezra Levant, Sun News Network host, ordered to pay $80,000 in libel case. Aww, and he’s even got a little website because he’s the victim!

Restaurant review of the day year: America at the Trump hotel: The food is amazing – but you shouldn’t eat here, ever.

Bonus: China bans wordplay in attempt at pun control. Sino the times…
