The GOODS FROM EARNEST ICE CREAM

Vancouver, BC | On Tuesday, November 4th, we hosted the launch of Feed Democracy – a non-partisan initiative started by the Broadbent Institute with the simple goal of increasing voter participation in the upcoming BC civic elections (Saturday November 15th).

In the last municipal election voter turnout in Vancouver was only around 30%. We can do so much better! Feed Democracy engages community-organizations and food-related establishments throughout Metro Vancouver. Some of the 30+ businesses include Chambar, Fable, Salt Spring Coffee, Choices Market, Graze, Parallel 49 Brewing, The Juice Truck, and Save on Meats. We are all working to encourage dialogue, democracy and a higher voter turnout.

People are already coming to our establishments to share meals and ideas. It seems like a natural place to start a conversation about local politics and the upcoming election. Visit any of the participating establishments or FeedDemocracy.ca for additional information.
