The GOODS from THISOPENSPACE

Vancouver, BC | There are a few reasons to celebrate September and it starts with the impressive line up we have in-store. Each pop-up has fully embraced our ethos of #roomtoplay and are bringing a unique experiences. It’s starts with GVEAFUKPOPUP, a revolving four-day pop-up with a new theme each day. Things slow things down at popupMOMENT for meditation, yoga, and a mindful meal. For the first time, you can bring your dogs in for portraits and pet supply shopping at AnalogueDog. Continuing on the photography theme, there’s a photoshop bootcamp weekend with DigitalDarlings. Following that, local designer AlexSYu returns from London for a one day pop-up following his show at Vancouver Fashion Week. Finally, online high-end consignment store ClosetCrows brings the experience offline for you to touch, feel, and try before you buy. Phew…that’s it. Oh, and did we mention we’re celebrating our first month as thisopenspace, and that the pop-up ready space is turning two years old this month? Yay! For a full list of what’s ahead including more pop-ups being held around town, check us out.

Sept 4 – 7 | #GVEAFUKPOPUP benefiting A Better Life Foundation | Sam Mendoza is launching her fall collection of Diamonds In The Rough Originals (D.I.T.R.O) chari-tees and to help celebrate, she’s brought 19 local designers and put together a four-day revolving storefront. Each day brings a new theme and line-up of local businesses and artists. They included HOMEBODY, WEAR, SIGHTS + SOUNDS, and BLING. This is really four pop-up shops in four days, and while it’s never been done before, if anyone can pull it off it’s Sam. Shop hours are 11am – 10pm daily, except for opening day Sept. 04 where they kick things off early at 10am. Bonus: there’s happy hour shopping from 8-9pm and DJs playing from 8-10pm everyday. For the full story on D.I.T.R.O, visit the BRAND page.

Sept 9 – 14 | #popupMOMENT Meditation, Yoga, and a Mindful Meal | Local yoga teacher Anita Cheung of Community Social Yoga is bringing #popupMOMENT to Chinatown. Expect drop-in audio-guided meditation throughout the day. Well-known local yoga teacher Carolyn Budgell will fill the afternoons with live, guided meditations. In the evenings, MOMENT will host two yoga & speaker series nights. There’s also a mindful meal, a 20-seat pop-up dinner with no distractions with My Edible Advice, Culver City Salads, SPUD, and Best Day Ever. #popupMOMENT will break down any imagined barriers and spark curiosity and conversation about meditation, mindfulness, and mental health. Find the full schedule in our UPCOMING calendar.

Sept 17 – 18 | #AnalogueDog by Vanalogue Photobooth | #AnalogueDog is the initial launch of an exciting original two-day “Dog Photo Salon” series @thisopenspace. Shot on special coated paper and vintage large format cameras hooked to strobes, all portraits are hand printed on the spot in a pop-up darkroom.

Sept 20 – 21 | #DigitalDarlings Photoshop Bootcamp Weekend | If you’re like us and have wasted hours toiling away unsuccessfully on Photoshop (PS) or if you needed a quick graphic and couldn’t wait on a designer or budget for one on a small task, then you need to get your basics down and regain your creative confidence. #DigitalDarlings will demystify PS through fiercley fun small-group weekend workshops and customized coaching. This is open to everyone but you must sign-up here to save a seat.

Sept 24 | #AlexSYu Fashion Designer | Local fashion designer #AlexSYu is coming back to town from London for his first show at Vancouver Fashion Week. Following the show, he’s opening a pop-up to sell his pieces and accept orders. Come meet the designer himself but don’t miss it, the one-day pop-up will be gone the next day.

Sept 26 – 28 | #ClosetCrows High Quality Women’s Fashion Consignment | Founder Rebecca Sherlock plays many roles in her day-to-day life, including athlete, mother, and physician. While off-duty, she’s put together the online women’s shop #ClosetCrows, focusing on high fashion consignment for women with expensive taste but a real-world budget. We’re lucky enough to have #ClosetCrows based out of Vancouver where they’re bringing the online experience to us in-person. About thisopenspace

TOSc-JR-12(touched-up)

thisopenspace is a full-service pop-up production agency. Their flagship storefront in Chinatown is an idea playground and a pop-up ready space. It’s where they have hosted over 70 pop-up concepts since 2012. But there is so much more…

POP-UP READY SPACES
Empty space sucks and space for short-term use is rare. We help clients find flexible space and open underutilized space for temporary use. We’ve done this around Vancouver neighbourhoods including Mount Pleasant, Gastown, South Granville, and Fraserhood. Do you have or need space for temporary use? Contact us.

PROMOTION AND PRESS RELATIONS
It ain’t a party if no one shows up. We provide promotion and press relations exclusively to short term pop-up shops, exhibitions, and events. Whether it’s happening at one of our spaces or not, we help clients connect with their audience. Here’s the proof.

AN ENGAGED AUDIENCE
A pop-up is a limited time offer and we make sure that clients get noticed by an engaged audience that we’ve built over the last two years. This includes over 1000+ subscribers to our monthlycoolkids newsletter, 3000+ Instagram, 1900+Facebook, and 1500+ Twitter followers. We leverage our audience and get clients noticed.

EVENT PRODUCTION
Over the past two years, we’ve seen the best and the less than stellar. We know the elements that make a pop-up event successful and those to avoid. Our team has a track record of producing successful retail, food, and entertainment events. We design unique and memorable experiences.

ACCOLADES
“The incredibly successful rotating pop-up shop that offers people the chance to try out a storefront” – Vancouver Sun, August 2014
