The Goods From El Matador

North Vancouver, BC | Every Sunday through Thursday, El Matador offers $2 off all tapas and $1 off all drinks before 5pm and after 10pm. At El Matador, the serving of tapas is meant to encourage conversation. Diners are less focused on a large meal set before them, and more on small bites and conversation. Offerings include such items as grilled goat’s cheese with salsa fresca; shallot and crimini stuffed mushrooms; and baked chorizo. The Spanish take their gin seriously and the five gin-based house cocktails at El Matador are serious about it, too. The house sangria – a mix of wine, triple sec, juice and fresh fruit – is also not to be missed. Details after the jump…

About El Matador

El-Matador-3

El Matador Spanish Tapas is the love child of old-world Spain and modern social dining – a spot that will make you feel like you’ve stumbled upon a hidden culinary gem in the back alleys of Seville. Inspired by the autonomous region of Spain known as Andalusia, the birthplace of bullfighting, flamenco, the world’s oldest cave paintings and some truly good eating, El Matador is as good as the real thing.

With a simple, made-to-share menu, El Matador’s charm is all in the experience. Wood bars span the length of the restaurant, where guests swap stories with old friends and discover new ones – including Spanish beers, a top-notch gin list and lip-smacking sangria. Paired with rustic Spanish tapas, including Grilled Goat Cheese with Salsa Fresca and Chorizo and Quail Eggs, plus plenty of gluten-free options, there’s every reason for you to enjoy. Let us count the ways.

In Spain, tapas are meant to be shared over drinks and great conversation. As they say at El Matador, if you’re not enjoying yourself, you’re doing it wrong.
