The GOODS from Dockside

Vancouver, BC | Granville Island is Vancouver’s Canada Day headquarters and Dockside Restaurant at the Granville Island Hotel is offering three different ways join of the party: a pancake breakfast, an all-day BBQ on Vancouver’s best patio and the official cake-cutting ceremony at 2pm. All in all, it’s 12 straight hours of Canada Day fun. Granville Island will be abuzz with activities from free live jazz on four different stages, a free Canada Day Parade and even a Children’s Festival with performers and face painting. The day kicks off in earnest with Dockside’s Truly Canadian Pancake Breakfast starting at 7am. The Dockside team will be whipping up hotcakes and Canadian bacon until 10am to help everyone fuel up for their full day of Canada Day activities. Breakfast is $8 per person with partial proceeds going to Canuck Place.

From 11am-7pm, Chef Simon McNeil and his team will fire up the BBQ for the Great Canadian BBQ featuring Dockside’s Old Bridge Lager Pulled Pork, Smoked Fraser Valley Chicken, Grilled Copper River Sockeye and a host of other delicious mains and sides. The BBQ costs just $18.95 per person for all this housemade goodness. Dockside’s beers are a perfect match for this feast, and with 8 different award-winning in-house brewed beers on tap, there’s a new favourite for every taste just waiting to be tried. To make Canada’s 145th birthday official, Dockside will be serving up a free giant birthday cake next door in Ron Basford Park after the National Anthem ceremony at 2pm. It’s first come, first served for a piece so come sing at the top of your lungs then dig into the cake.

About Dockside

The Dockside Restaurant offers superbly prepared classic dishes in a setting like no other. Located on the waterfront where Granville Island faces the city, guests can enjoy panoramic views across False Creek to the world-famous cityscape of Yaletown and beyond to the mountains of the North Shore.

The open dining room is relaxed yet refined, wrapped in spectacular floor to ceiling windows, while the lounge offers warm intimate surroundings for evening cocktails. The award-winning patio catches sunlight from morning to late afternoon. Protected on three sides it’s an oasis of calm, disturbed only by the occasional sound of boats making their way along False Creek. Recent renovations have added fireplaces and casual seating areas to this Vancouver destination.

These three venues offer seating options that are perfect for groups from 4 to 200. With signature elements like a 50-foot aquarium and an open kitchen, each meal is an experience for all the senses. Located adjacent to the boutique Granville Island Hotel, the Dockside Restaurant is open seven days a week serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. Reservations are recommended.

Reviews

“This is our very favorite place. We drive into town from Delta and make an evening of browsing through Granville Isl. Market. The restaurnat is perfect for a quiet evening.View is wonderful. I appreciate the spacious arrangement of the tables. We have our favorite table, the staff and service is fabulous. I had the herb crusted Halibut – it was delicious and my husband enjoyed the slate fish. It was a memorable evening. We look forward to another visist very soon. As well, we have enjoyed the great patio – has to be one of Vancouver’s best.” OpenTable.com

“We have going to Vancouver for many years and most recently (if twenty years can be considered recently) staying exclusively at the wonderful Graville Island Hotel. Because we have an aversion to hotel restaurants, this is the first time we have had dinner there. It was one of the finest dinners we have in a city that is known for its fine restaurants. Outstanding in every way!” OpenTable.com

“We enjoyed the welcoming feel of the restaurant – appropriate lighting, comfortable seating – it is like a comfortable dining room. We will return again as the restaurant has once again met our expectations. The salmon was nicely prepared and the lamb was well presented and excellent on the tongue. Service was well-timed and friendly, wines were affordable.” OpenTable.com
