Sometimes I suspect we have some pretty cool readers. Other times, I just know it. From the inbox…
My girlfriend Christina and I are long time readers of Scout, and long time eaters and drinkers of Vancouver. We love the website – it’s our go-to for what’s happening and upcoming in the city.
We have long wanted to attend an Outstanding in the Field [dinner], but timing and money have been obstacles to our attending. My girlfriend just turned 30, and to celebrate we wanted to throw our own close-to-home version. We chose a spot, rented tables and chairs, borrowed and scrounged cutlery and dishes, chose a night, and invited 20 of our friends to show up for a dinner in the park overlooking the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club and the rest of English Bay.
We chose Monday night as we wanted the park to ourselves, and not to attract the attention of those who prefer we not drink and setup tables in the park. Given the weather of late, we absolutely lucked out and dined with a beautiful sunset.
The dinner went off without a hitch – which was a pleasant surprise given we don’t usually cook for 22 that often. We had a wonderful time, and it was a great way to celebrate a 30th birthday.
Hold on to this Jesse chap, Christina. He sounds like a keeper.
awesome!!!!
What a fab idea! DIY “Alfesco”. Might have to steal this idea.
Amazing. I’ve long suspected, but now I know for sure. I’m definitely not cool enough to read this site.
Bah. You’ll do, Jason. 😉
I’m not cool at all and somehow I’m in this photo…..
